Yoga | (ages 16+) | Somatic Flow & Strength | Thursdays (Winter 2026)

Experience yoga from a fresh perspective with Somatic Flow & Strength, a mindful, grounding class that blends somatic awareness with strength-based flow. You’ll build stability and mobility through slow, intentional sequences that emphasize how movement feels rather than how it looks. Each class weaves in breathwork, nervous system regulation, and gentle yogic philosophy to help you cultivate presence, resilience, and balance, both physically and mentally. 4 weeks of yoga! Registration closes Tuesday, January 13 at 4:00 PM Drop-ins also accepted. $15/class/resident and $18/class/non-resident. This class develops body awareness, language, good listening skills, cooperation and powers of observation. It teaches children about nature, their environment and inspires their imaginations. This class balances quiet and active poses with game playing, singing, storytelling, simple breath meditations and rest. Guided Crochet Lessons Winter 2026

This program is open to both beginner and intermediate-level crocheters. Over 4 weeks, our experienced instructor will guide you as you complete your projects, ensuring you gain confidence with each stitch.

Students will complete one to two projects, depending on their skill level, etc. Project options will be provided.
The following materials are required for class:
  • Yarn: Various colours of cotton or acrylic yarn
  • Crochet Hook: 3.5mm to 4.0mm (US E-4 to G-6)
  • Scissors
  • Yarn Needle: For weaving in ends
  • Stitch marker (5-10)

Parent and Tot Martial Arts (Ages 2-4) Winter 2026

Students in this class will learn the beginner fundamentals of two martial arts: - Olympic Taekwondo - the art of kicking - Brazilian Jiu Jitsu - ground self-defence and grappling Not only will your child learn very important and crucial basics of the martial arts (which facilitate physical & mental strength, self-confidence, and overall healthier self-esteem), but you as the parent will learn skills that will help tend to your little child's needs when they have very big feelings. As your toddler learns preschool necessary skillsets, you, too, learn coping strategies. You will bond with your child in this class as collectively you and your child learn to self-regulate emotions such as anxiety that may come from situations such as facing challenges that the child may perceive to be difficult and frustrating. You will learn to regulate your emotions, and your child will too.

Students and parents are asked to come wearing loose-fitting, comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle.

*Please note that parent participation and attendance is required for all classes.

Our programs have been specifically designed by a professional youth specialist with 20 years of youth work experience to meet kids at their developmental stage. Family Spirit Martial Arts classes promote GREATER SELF-ESTEEM by teaching your children HOW to feel about life challenges and HOW to overcome them.

Students in this class will learn the curriculum of both martial arts, with the opportunity to test when ready, giving them the criteria to advance to higher belt levels and learn the next-level curriculum prerequisites.

Standard testing fees range from $50 - $85.00. Testing fees for Taekwondo and Brazilian jiu-jitsu are offered for students of The Orchards at a reduced rate of only $35.00. Students MUST be approved for testing by the lead instructor, Master Taylor, and will be invited to do so directly. Testing will happen during regular class time while other non-testing students participate in regular training. Testing will take place on the last day of class. Students are asked to come wearing loose-fitting, comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle.

Hi there! I’m Jaime, your sewing instructor. I’ve been sewing since I was 8 years old and have tackled just about everything from home decor and bags to clothing and beyond! In this beginner sewing class, I’ll help you build the skills and confidence you need to sew a variety of materials and choose the right tools for any project. We’ll start by making a tote bag together, a perfect way to get comfortable with your machine and learn different stitches. For your second project, you’ll get to choose whatever inspires you! Want to make cozy pillows, a t-shirt, joggers, placemats, or something else entirely? The world is your oyster! So dust off that dream project you’ve been thinking about and join us for a fun, creative sewing experience!
