An explosion of dance styles! Throughout the session each week will consist of a different style of dance. We will look at jazz, tap, ballet, creative, movement, hip hop and more! A great introduction to the world of dance!

Glee (Musical Theatre) (Ages 7-10)

In this introduction to musical theatre, students will learn all the music, words, and a choreographed dance to a number(s) from a huge Broadway show or musical movie. Students will learn how to develop characters and act in short scenes. Costumes and sets are part of a small performance for family and friends on the last day of classes.

Crochet Lessons

Our Crochet program is open to both beginner and intermediate-level crocheters. Over 6 weeks our experienced instructor will guide you as you complete your projects, ensuring you gain confidence with each stitch.

Students will complete one project and will learn two different flower design granny squares (a sunflower and a daisy). Project options include flower coasters or a flower bouquet/ basket. 

The following materials are required for class:

  • Yarn: Various colours of cotton, or acrylic yarn 
  • Crochet Hook: 3.5mm to 4.0mm (US E-4 to G-6)
  • Scissors
  • Yarn Needle: For weaving in ends
  • Stitch marker ( 5-10) 

For those interested, a materials list can also be purchased on your behalf for $50. Please indicate in the form if you wish to have a materials package purchased and provided for you.

NEW to The Orchards - Beginner Volley! Volleyball Alberta's GO Sport Atomic programs follow the curriculum set out in Volleyball Canada’s Atomic Volleyball Program. Atomic Volleyball is an 7-week program with adapted rules for youth ages 9-12 years. Each session is 1.5 hours with every session being a combination of skills/technique practice and modified games play.  Atomic Volleyball is part of the Long-Term Athlete Development Model Stage 2 “Learning to Train” that stresses FUN, FAIRPLAY, and PARTICIPATION by increasing the number of ball contacts. Mondays | May 5 - June 23 *Omit May 19 (Victoria Day) (7 weeks) 5:00 - 6:30 PM Ages 9 - 12 Resident rate: $145* Non-residents: $155* *Note: your enrollment fees include a membership with Volleyball Alberta which boasts multiple benefits including athlete and leadership development. Parent & Tot Martial Arts (Ages 2-4)

Students in this class will learn the beginner fundamentals of two martial arts: 
- Olympic Tae kwon do - the art of kicking
- Brazilian Jiu Jitsu - ground self defence and grappling

Not only will your child learn very important and crucial basics of the martial arts (which facilitate physical & mental strength, self-confidence, and overall healthier self-esteem), but you as the parent will learn skills that will help tend to your little child's needs when they have very big feelings. As your toddler learns preschool necessary skillsets, you too learn coping strategies. You will bond with your child in this class as collectively you and your child learn to self-regulate emotions such as anxiety that may come from situations such as facing challenges that the child may perceive to be difficult and frustrating. You will learn to regulate your emotions and your child will too.

Students and parents are asked to come wearing loose fitting comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle.

*Please note that parent participation and attendance is required for all classes. The class runs for 10 weeks.

10 Weeks

Students in this class will learn the beginner fundamentals of two martial arts:

Our programs have been specifically designed by a professional youth specialist with 20 years of youth work experience to meet kids at their developmental stage. Family Spirit Martial Arts classes promote GREATER SELF-ESTEEM by teaching your children HOW to feel about life challenges and HOW to overcome them. 

Students in this class will learn the curriculum of both martial arts, with the opportunity to test when ready, giving them the criteria to advance to higher belt levels and learn the next-level curriculum prerequisites.

Standard testing fees range from $50 - $85.00. Testing fees for tae kwon do and Brazillian jiu-jitsu is offered for students of The Orchards at a reduced rate of only $35.00.

Students MUST be approved for testing by the lead instructor, Master Taylor, and will be invited to do so directly. Testing will happen during regular class time while other non-testing students participate in regular training. Testing will take place on the last day of class.

Students are asked to come wearing loose-fitting comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle.

Salsa Lessons

With practically every city including ours holding ongoing Salsa Social Nights, this dance allows you to have fun, be challenged, have a great workout and above all make new friends when you travel or when dancing locally here in our city.

Come with or without a partner and learn in a fun and inviting environment.
You are sure to leave with more friends to cheer you on.

UpBeat Lift is your muscle building class that combines supersets with progressive overload to work your muscles to failure with heavy weights, then to build endurance using drop-sets. Lift is a ZERO impact format that is choreographed and set to fun UpBeat music to keep you motivated throughout the whole class. UpBeat Lift is for all stages of fitness. So grab your weights and a yoga mat and come join me for class! Please bring a yoga mat, 3 sets of weights (3lbs, 5lbs, & 8lbs recommended) and a water bottle.
